They are back – El Almendro Spanish nougats

This year’s Christmas shipment of El Almendro nougats came late this year. The boxes are usually on store shelves by mid-November but delivery didn’t happen until late last week. Get them now while supplies last – they only come once a year. I recommend the original “turron blando” – the soft almond nougat and the “yema tostada” – an caramelized egg yolk nougat that is reminiscent of a sweet, dense poundcake. Both are achingly sweet, but oh so good with a shot of espresso. (I got my boxes from La Grotta on Commercial Drive).

Thanks for the heads up. Looking forward to trying them out. So no more sugar in my espresso but nougat? That sounds good to me.
